Only 19 Per cent of 18-24 year olds can afford to buy on leaving home and only 30 per cent get the money together to buy before they are 30.

First time buyers now only make up 30 per cent of new borrowers - a record low.

Given that this situation is not likely to change dramatically in the foreseeable future, the flat-sharers' market is likely to remain strong.
