Mass immigrantion could push house prices up by more than ten per cent over the next 20 years, a parliamentary report warned yeaterday.
It said immigration has had little or no positive impact on living standards and the government should put an immediate cap on the numbers settling in Britain from outside the EU. The report of the House of Lords economic also rejected government claims that high levels of immigration were needed to prevent labour shortages and said groups such as the low paid, some ethnic minorities and young job seekers may have suffered because of competition from migrants.
