House Prices Jump Again - The Times March 06
The latest house price survey by the Halifax revealed the housing market strengthened in February.
Halifax said house prices jumped 1.4 per cent in February, their biggest gain in six months. The gain nudged the annual rate of house price inflation to 5.5 per cent.
Further small increases are expected to push the annual rate even higher in the coming months.
According to the Halifax's survey, which is based on its own mortgage lending data, house prices have been rising steadily since hitting a low of 2.3 per cent last July.
