Bricks And Mortar Are Still Solid - City A.M March 06

Almost one fifth of private investors said that they thought buy-to-let property would be the best performing asset class this year in a recent snapshot survey.

Given that 50 per cent said that they had no idea which asset class would be best in the New Star Asset Management study, it suggests that more people want to put their money into residential bricks and mortar than into cash equities, bonds or cash.

The study is significant, as it opens up the debate over the logic of companies setting up buy-to-let funds when expers say that the golden days for the buy-to-let investor are long gone.
