Housebuyers On The Move Have Doubled - The Metro Aug 06
The number of people planning to move house doubled in the first six months of the year, a property market survey shows today.
About 15 per cent of families say they plan to buy a new home and move in by next winter, compared with just seven per cent in January, the Alliance and Leicester bank says.
While not everybody will act on these plans, the increase shows people feel confident about both house prices and borrowing, analysts add.
The number of people hoping to buy their first home has also risen by nearly a third since the start of this year, the study reveals.
Sixteen per cent of under 30's, the key age group for first time buyers, want to get a foot on the property ladder - up from 12 per cent in January.
