Builders To Take A Stake In Homes Of First Time Buyers- The Times December 05

Lenders and housebuilders will be encouraged to take a stake in first time mortgages under a new government backed scheme, Gordon Brown will announce today in his pre-budget report.

The aim is to help young couples to get on the housing ladder. In a big extension of shared equity schemes, Mr Brown will tell MP's that the Halifax and Nationwide will team up with the government to help first time buyers to reach the asking price of properties.

All will benefit from the profits when the property is sold on.
