Britain Still Has A Land Shortage - The Sunday Times May 07
Britain's residential construction industry says that government targets to build 200,000 new homes a year by 2016 cannot be met because of land shortages and complex planning rules.
The Home Builders Federation Says that it costs up to £36,000 a home to meet official enviromental standards, and believes the figure will rise as by 2016, new homes must be carbon-neutral.
It also claims the amount of landdevelopment each year has fallen 10 per cent since 2003.
