Latest predictions by estate agent Hamptons International suggest that house prices will rise by between 3 and 4 per cent in the coming year. It attributes this good news for those looking to sell property to the continuing greater numbers of buyers than sellers within the housing market.

However, Hamptons beleives that, while the early months of 2008 will see a slowdown, the latter part of the year should see the market pick up.

This will follow a period of delay as homeowners wait for their HIP order to be processed before they can market the property.
