House Price Jump Is The Biggest For 18 Months - Evening Standard January 06

Britain's housing market has got off to a flying startin 2006, with property prices posting their biggest rise for 18 months in January, writes Jane Padgham.

In the latest sign the market is picking up after slowing down during 2005, Nationwide today said the average house price rose by 1.4 per cent, the biggest one month increase since July 2004.

It pushes the year on year rate of growth up from 3 per cent to 4.4 per cent.
